Privacy policy
What this site collects, what it does not collect, and how to switch off the parts you would rather not have.
Nothing on this site asks you for personal information. You can read every guide without registering, without submitting a form, and without telling us who you are.
The information that reaches us is limited to what a browser and a hosting provider send automatically, plus aggregate analytics. That is described below in full.
When you request a page, our hosting provider records routine technical information:
- The page you requested and the time you requested it.
- An approximate location derived from your IP address, at city or region level.
- The page that referred you, if there was one.
- Your browser type, operating system, device type and screen size.
This is used to keep the site running, to see which guides are useful and to detect abuse. It is looked at in aggregate and is not used to build a profile of you as an individual. Logs are kept only as long as the hosting provider retains them.
We use an analytics service to count visits, compare guides and see which topics are worth writing more about. Analytics cookies do not identify you personally; they record a visit, not a reader.
Your browser stores these cookies on your device, and you can delete or block them at any time in your browser settings. Doing so does not restrict access to any part of this site.
This site displays advertising. Third-party advertising networks may set cookies or read device identifiers in order to limit how often you see an advert and, where you have allowed it, to show advertising based on sites you have visited. Those cookies are set and controlled by the networks, not by us, and we do not receive the personal data behind them — only aggregate reports such as impressions and estimated revenue.
Some links to retailers are affiliate links. When a link is an affiliate link, the retailer or its affiliate network may store a cookie or an identifier so that a resulting purchase can be attributed. That identifier records the click, not your purchase history, and we receive aggregate commission information rather than your order details.
Every affiliate link in a guide is disclosed on the page. We do not accept payment for a review or a recommendation.
Bezel Ledger does not operate user accounts, comment threads, newsletters or contact forms, and does not collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers or payment details. We do not sell, rent or trade reader information, because we do not hold any.
If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write. We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for handling the correction or question, and we do not add email addresses to any mailing list.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies specifically. You can also opt out of personalised advertising through the advertising settings offered by the networks that serve adverts here. Blocking advertising cookies does not prevent you from reading any part of this site.
If you are in a region with data protection legislation that gives you rights over personal data, those rights apply to the limited information described above. Write to the address below and we will help where we can, or point you to the provider that holds it.
Bezel Ledger is written for adults making purchase decisions. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If we change how the site handles data — for example by adding a newsletter or a different analytics provider — this page will be updated before the change takes effect, with a new revision date.
